The Best Fat Bike Trails

Fat bikes are mountain bikes outfitted with big, beefy tires to deliver optimal traction. Perfectly suited to riding in the snow, they perform best on packed trails. This makes fat biking an ideal activity for beginner riders and seasoned cyclists alike. Here are the best winter riding locations around Québec City.
Empire 47 (E47)

This might very well be the most popular fat bike destination in the world! With about 40 km (25 miles) of undulating, machine groomed trails for all levels, Empire 47 is a fat biking paradise. The amenities and the comprehensive fleet of rental bikes can accommodate groups of almost any size.
Sentiers du Moulin

A well-known destination for cross-country skiing and mountain biking, Sentiers du Moulin is a natural fit for fat biking. Just shy of 30 km (20 miles), the trails are better suited to intermediate and advanced riders, as well as thrill seekers!
Mont-Sainte-Anne

Set in a true winter wonderland, this world-class alpine and cross-country skiing resort is also a great fat biking destination. Spanning almost 7 km (4 miles), the trail network is maintained all winter long. The trailhead is located next to the cross-country ski centre, about 7 km (4 miles) away from the chairlift.
Vallée Bras-du-Nord (Shannahan Sector)

If you’re looking for fun and flowy trails, the trails at Shannahan are well worth the drive… and the effort! A mellow ride to the magnificent Delaney waterfall is a great option for beginners.
