Composer-in-residence Emilie LeBel will open the Brahms Festival with a new work commissioned by the Orchestra. Marc-André Hamelin will then perform the monumental Piano Concerto No. 2, followed by the Symphony No. 3, whose famous Poco allegretto inspired Frank Sinatra, Yves Montand, Dalida and Serge Gainsbourg. Two vibrant Hungarian Dances will bring this first program to a lively close.
