Québec City is awash in great finds these days. Here are some new spots that have made their mark on the city’s culinary scene in the past year. Enjoy exploring!

    cuicui

This modern Saint-Sauveur restaurant and bar delivers expert mixology and local ingredients in a tasteful, warm, and unpretentious setting. The drink list includes classic cocktails with a twist as well as bold, creative concoctions, which can be paired with food items ranging from light bites to heartier dishes, so there’s something for everyone. Happy hour is Thursday through Sunday from 4 to 6, and each drink comes with a bite to eat from the seasonally rotating menu.

    Beurre Baratté

Walking into this European-inspired bistro created by Frédéric Boudreau and Maxime Tessier feels like stopping by a friend’s place for dinner. An open kitchen and huge central island create a welcoming yet sophisticated atmosphere. Local products are in the spotlight, with vegetables receiving equal pride of place as meat. Beurre Baratté offers two seatings per night from Wednesday to Saturday.

    Mila Buvette

Since spring, this vegan café on 3rd Avenue in Limoilou has been moonlighting as a tapas and wine bar. The charming dining room and colourful decor remain the same, but the menu switches over to savoury small plates and a selection of privately imported wines that differs from the café’s daytime list. Everything is vegan, from the first cup to the last sip.

    Chouchou

Limoilou’s new neighbourhood snack bar oozes Asian flair, courtesy of the team at La Planque. Enjoy their sandos—Japanese-style sandwiches served on soft, fluffy bread—smash burgers, and house-made soft serve, washed down with a strawberry matcha or pandan iced tea, and take in the decor that can only be described as chouchou.

  • 5

    Baloney Sandwicherie

At this cheerful spot in Saint-Jean-Baptiste, three chefs from local eatery Le Cendrillon bring their fine-dining expertise to the humble sandwich. The menu features a dozen sandwiches, including the eponymous Baloney with ketchup chips. For a little indulgence, our favourite is the Buffalo fried chicken sandwich with a side of tater tots. There’s also a hidden courtyard, the perfect spot to sip one of their homemade lemonades.

    Paul Pizza

This new Limoilou pizzeria makes its sourdough with 100% local Québec flour and bakes it into a perfect New York-style thin crust. The menu features six 18-inch pizzas, each with its own dip, as well as a selection of slices available until 4 p.m. Dine in or take out, but be sure to pair every pizza with a privately imported wine or craft beer.

    Le Lit Double

This lively restaurant and bar in Saint-Jean-Baptiste is the epitome of bang for your buck. Established in 2025, it serves dishes from all over the world, from Irish spice bags to traditional Mayan dip. The drink menu features 12 beers on tap and classic cocktails, all served in a Second Empire–style building that retains its original mouldings and has a double bed hanging from the ceiling. Hosting themed nights and concerts, Le Lit Double is quickly becoming the place to be for evenings when time flies.
