After more than 45 years of career and ten albums, the Tuareg pioneers and Grammy Award winners Tinariwen return to their roots. As a powerful voice for Tuareg nomadic culture across the desert regions between Mali and Algeria, the band has captivated audiences worldwide with their electric blues, hypnotic rhythms, and politically charged lyrics in the Tamasheq language. With Hoggar, their tenth album, Tinariwen embrace their role as elders of this musical tradition, reconnecting with the acoustic, collective spirit of their early days around the campfire while passing the torch to a new generation of musicians. Forced by political instability in Mali, the founding members recorded the album in Tamanrasset, Algeria, in a studio run by the young band Imarhan—affirming both the resilience and the enduring legacy of their music.
