The Man In Black

With his striking physical resemblance, baritone voice, and precise gestures, Shawn Barker steps into the shoes of the original "Man In Black" and brings to life the persona and spirit of Johnny Cash, one of America's most iconic artists, in a one-of-a-kind show. The dynamic concert features Barker portraying the character throughout the evening, as he revisits with the audience each era of Cash's career, performing hits like "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line," "A Boy Named Sue," "Hurt," and "Ring of Fire," with a full band of musicians.

Shawn Barker's first "Man In Black" show took place in 2004 at a casino in Niagara Falls. Since then, he has given over 1000 concerts in 12 countries, selling more than half a million tickets over his career. Born and raised in a working-class suburb of Saint Louis, Barker developed an interest in music from a young age while singing in church with his family. His path to a music career did not immediately follow his time in the gospel choir. After serving his country in the army, Barker returned to Missouri and began working as a carpenter, spending his free time learning how to play the guitar. He honed the power and versatility of his voice by drawing inspiration from several legends – Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent. His performances, initially a hobby, eventually became his livelihood, but curiously, during his early tours, he impersonated Elvis rather than Johnny Cash. Everything changed when Barker auditioned for the role of Cash in a Hollywood production and it became clear to the director and to Barker himself that he was born to embody Johnny Cash. From that moment, his path was set.
