Le Massif de Charlevoix

Known as the ski resort with the highest vertical drop east of the Rocky Mountains, Le Massif de Charlevoix offers many outdoor activities that have one thing in common: a gorgeous view of the St. Lawrence River.

With long ski runs that seem to plunge directly into the St. Lawrence River, deep natural snow and legendary après-ski events, Le Massif is a favourite among skiers and snowboarders. After a heavy snowfall—a frequent occurrence in the region—backcountry enthusiasts leap at the opportunity to ski in the fresh snow. The three peaks in the sector can all be reached on foot or with climbing skins. The 7.5-km (4.7-mile) sledding run is yet another way to admire the view while zooming down the mountain.

Even in the summer and fall, outdoor recreational activities may be practised at Le Massif. Those hiking along the trails criss-crossing the mountain from the summit to the base can admire the breathtaking panorama stretched out before them. The new mountain biking trails were designed mainly for descent riding and are not technically difficult. Great fun for those familiar with the trails, and ideal for mountain biking neophytes.
