Much more than a traditional museum, it’s a place to explore our collective identity, our roots, and our connection to the world. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Québec’s history, see things from a new perspective, and walk away with lasting memories. Whether you’re a history buff, naturally curious, or simply looking for a memorable activity, here are 5 great reasons to include it in your itinerary.

Experience the Blockbuster Exhibition: Titanic – The Human Story

It’s impossible to remain unmoved by the story of the Titanic. More than 100 years after the tragic sinking, it still resonates deeply. After touring over 20 cities across Europe and North America, the exhibition has finally made its way to Canada.

Think you know everything about this iconic ship? Think again. This immersive exhibition dives into the lives of passengers and crew members through nearly 200 authentic artifacts and archival items, along with striking recreations of the ship’s interior. It’s a moving and unforgettable experience.

Insider tip: Daily visitor capacity is limited, so booking your tickets online is highly recommended — plus, you can save up to $3 per ticket. Please note: special pricing applies to this exhibition, but it includes access to all other exhibitions at the Museum.

Connect With the Stories That Shape Québec

To truly appreciate a place, it helps to understand the forces that shaped it. The Musée de la civilisation offers a meaningful look at Québec’s rich history, identity, and culture — perfect for visitors eager to go beyond the usual sights.

Two standout permanent exhibitions dive into this heritage. In Other Words, Québec explores how Québec society has evolved, through six themed zones — the largest exhibition ever created by the Museum. This is Our Story, presented by Hydro-Québec, focuses on the voices and experiences of First Nations and Inuit Peoples, told across five immersive sections that span from past to present.

Insider tip: Make the most of your visit with a free guided tour included in your admission. These one-hour tours offer valuable context and are a great opportunity to ask questions. Check the daily schedule online or at the front desk.

Enjoy Family Fun — No Whispering Needed

At the Musée de la civilisation, families and children are more than welcome — they’re celebrated! Every exhibition includes interactive elements designed to spark curiosity and keep visitors of all ages engaged.

Little ones aged 3 to 8 will especially love My Place, an exhibition designed just for them. Presented by Radio-Canada and Via Capitale, it invites kids to explore a whimsical house built to their scale — where everything is made for little hands to touch, play, and discover. The Museum also offers a wide range of activities and educational workshops that blend learning with fun.

Insider tip: Visiting with young children? No need to bring a stroller — the Museum lends them out for free!

Make the Most of Everything the Museum Has to Offer

Just exhibitions? Far from it! The MCQ has plenty to offer — even without a ticket. Here are a few highlights:

    • Savour the delights at Espace saveurs by Nollen: No ticket needed to indulge in fresh, homemade dishes. From specialty coffees and pastries to fine teas, gourmet sandwiches, and hot meals — everything is crafted to satisfy your hunger, whether you stay or take out.
    • Stop by an impressive artifact right at the entrance: As you enter the museum, a large traditional boat will catch your eye. It’s one of 38,000 artifacts uncovered during archaeological digs from 1984 to 1985, just before the museum’s construction. This New France vessel was found exactly where the welcome desk stands today.
