Starting in November, the Québec region comes alive with the magic of Christmas markets. These long-awaited events invite visitors to stroll among the twinkling stalls, discover unique creations by local artisans, and savour comforting treats. 

Whether set outdoors in enchanting locations or held indoors to highlight the talent of local craftspeople, these gatherings help keep the holiday magic shining bright. Here’s an overview of the Christmas markets to discover throughout the greater Québec City area.

    There’s something irresistible about the magic of open-air Christmas markets. Strolling past twinkling chalets, with the scent of hot chocolate in the air and festive music all around, you can’t help but be swept into the holiday spirit.

    Québec City German Christmas Market

    Located in the heart of Old Québec, the German Christmas Market draws visitors from near and far every year and has become a must-see experience—probably the most enchanting one in Canada. It recreates the atmosphere of a true Christmas village with its wooden huts, twinkling lights, and magical décor that blends seamlessly with the city’s historic streets. 

    Here, you’ll find vendors offering both local products and specialties imported from Germany: spiced mulled wine, pretzels, gingerbread, and other comforting treats. Children’s activities, choirs, and even visits from Santa Claus add to the magic.

    As the oldest outdoor Christmas market in Québec, the Cap-Santé Christmas Market carries a living heritage where the traditions of yesteryear come alive.     Over two weekends, the Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury Christmas Market brings together more than 70 local artisans and producers in a warm and creative atmosphere. From the flavours of the Grange du Presbytère to free shows, fireworks, and Santa’s visit, a festive and magical spirit fills the air.

    In the heart of Espace Félix-Leclerc, the Île d’Orléans Christmas Market reveals its magic. Around a crackling fire, the voices of a women’s choir accompany the discoveries of passionate artisans and handcrafted creations. Santa Claus and Léon Noël, the market’s official ambassador, add their touch of enchantment to this 100% local, intimate, and cozy market where the true spirit of the holidays comes alive.

    Located in the heart of the Grand Marché, this Christmas market combines local crafts and gourmet products in a bright and welcoming space. The lively atmosphere, featuring tastings and demonstrations, makes it a festive and friendly experience for the whole family.

    With over 20 years of history, the Québec Artisans Fair has become a must-visit event to discover the talent of local creators.
