Winter is part of the DNA of Québec City and its people. There’s always a perfect moment to step outside and enjoy the crisp, fresh air. With a constant flow of events, there’s always something exciting on the horizon. Starting in November, the holiday spirit grips the Old City, from the opening of the German Christmas Market to the New Year’s celebrations on Grande Allée. Before February’s out, the whole town is swept up in the Québec Winter Carnival for nearly 10 days. And don’t forget the classics—combine the legendary all-ice Hôtel de Glace with the fun of Village Vacances Valcartier.

Fresh for winter 2026–2027, here are the latest and greatest additions to the long list of wonderful things to do in Québec City this winter.

A New Cultural Landmark in Québec City
The Musée national des beaux-arts invites visitors to discover the Espace Riopelle – Pavillon Michael Audain, a new world-class destination dedicated to one of Quebec’s greatest artists, Jean Paul Riopelle. With its sleek interior, expansive windows and terraces, the space creates a unique dialogue between art and nature. Visitors can explore four exhibitions and immersive experiences that engage the senses and stir the emotions. Opening October 22.

A Floating Sauna Experience in the Old Port
The Port of Québec is welcoming the region’s first-ever floating sauna, a unique concept offering a new way to experience the St. Lawrence River. Set on a 3,500-square-foot barge in Bassin Louise, the space will accommodate more than 75 guests and feature a complete sauna and swimming experience right on the water. Opening in December.

Méga Parc Unveils a New Fantasy-Themed Mini-Golf
A brand-new attraction is coming to Méga Parc at Les Galeries de la Capitale: Atlas Mini-Golf, an 18-hole course inviting explorers of all ages to embark on an unforgettable journey with Monsieur Tourne-Tête, the creator of Méga Parc. This fun-filled family adventure takes players through a variety of worlds, from the depths of the ocean to the desert, all set against surprising and imaginative scenery. Opening this fall.

Québec City Hosts the Canada Games
The Canada Games are making their long-awaited return to Québec City after 60 years, bringing together thousands of athletes, partners and media from across the country from February 27 to March 14, 2027. It’s a unique opportunity for visitors and residents to watch Canada’s top emerging athletes in action at some of the city’s outstanding sports venues.

New Restaurants
There’s always a new restaurant popping up in Québec City, whether it’s for a quick bite, a multi-course extravaganza, or tasty international cuisine. Treat your taste buds in a new restaurant.
Did you know?
In June 2026, the Québec City metropolitan area and Wendake were designated as an UNESCO Biosphere Region, an international recognition highlighting their successful balance between biodiversity conservation, quality of life, and sustainable economic development.
This designation is particularly noteworthy because it marks the first time that an entire city has been recognized as a biosphere reserve. With this new distinction, Québec City also becomes the first city in the Americas to hold three UNESCO designations.
