Lumières sur les planètes de Holst

Orchestre symphonique de Québec

Two extraordinary Bulgarian musicians take center stage in this concert filled with powerful energy. Rising conductor Delyana Lazarova leads Orpheus’ Comet by fellow Bulgarian composer Dobrinka Tabakova. German violinist Clara-Jumi Kang dazzles with a stunning display of virtuosity and lyrical finesse in Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto. The irresistible melody of the Andante assai opens a visual universe that resonates with the awe-inspiring The Planets by Gustav Holst. This iconic work—famously cited as an inspiration for John Williams’ Star Wars soundtrack—draws from astrology to musically portray each planet of our solar system.

The Orchestre symphonique de Québec joins forces with the ASTROLab, whose science communication team brings Holst’s masterpiece to life through a unique visual interpretation of the planets.

Fasten your seatbelts for a multisensory odyssey where music, ASTROLab’s video imagery, and the lighting artistry of Nyco Desmeules converge into a singular cosmic experience.
