Danser Beethoven : Symphonies No 5 et 7

Les Grands Ballets Canadiens

In this grand spectacle, over forty performers from Les Grands Ballets Canadiens will dance to two distinct choreographies set to Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and Symphony No. 7, monumental works by an essential composer of classical music. This event promises to delight both dance and music enthusiasts!

American choreographer Garrett Smith opens the evening with the remarkable Symphony No. 5, one of the most important symphonies in the world. Drawing inspiration from the uniqueness of each individual, Smith creates a piece celebrating the power that comes from embracing our individuality and the excitement that arises from discovering our uniqueness. It's an ode to newfound freedom as the masks fall away.

In the second part, the performers take on one of the masterworks by the late German choreographer Uwe Scholz (1958-2004). In perfect harmony with the imposing Symphony No. 7, the dancers present a vibrant homage to dance, showcasing athletic prowess and geometric precision that become a recurring theme throughout the performance. Throughout his impressive career, Scholz created over a hundred choreographic works, always paying close attention to the music, and was renowned for his organic connection to it.
