Berry Treasures & Culinary Endeavours

Training, tasting and taking it all in Québec City-style.
Oneika at Cassis Monna & Filles
3:15

After a quick jog through the Plains of Abraham, a historic site that is also home to a popular summer festival, Oneika sets her sights on Île d’Orléans, otherwise known as the garden of Québec City, to visit Cassis Monna & Filles. Located just 15 short minutes from downtown, this quaint little island is teeming with locally grown blackcurrant berries. This is where Anne Monna and her sister Catherine, at the head of the family business, produce everything blackcurrant flavoured, from jams and savoury treats to ice cream.

Back in the city, Oneika catches up with the New France Festival. Equal parts celebratory parade and local history lesson, this summertime street festival immerses its audience in old-time traditions specific to one of the oldest cities in the country. It’s so last, last, last century.

For her final supper, Oneika sneaks her way into one of the cities most exclusive eateries, La Tanière³, a speakeasy steeped in history. Here Oneika embarks on a delicious journey through food, culture and heritage. Break out the stretchy pants, we’re talking 18 courses of pure culinary bliss served up in a historic cellar hidden beneath the city.
