Forêt Montmorency-Université Laval

The largest and oldest university research and teaching forest in the world holds interesting and educational outdoor activities for the public in a natural setting. A boreal forest measuring nearly 400 km² (154.4 sq. mi.) only 50 minutes from Québec City.

Go on a safari to watch the largest cervid (member of the deer family) on the planet, as well as some of the 164 bird species identified in the area. Learn how to pick mushrooms in the woods. Walk along the shore of a lake and listen to a faunal concert. Take an introductory course on boreal cooking called "from forest to plate." Different accommodations and food services onsite. Our expert tour guides can lead you on an excursion through the hinterland on cross-country skis or snowshoes. Known for the early start of its cross-country ski season, the Montmorency Forest keeps its trails groomed until late in the spring.
